Classé Monument Historique, le Château de Crazannes fut bâti au XVe siècle en lieu et place d'un ancien ensemble ecclésiastique. Son surnom de "Château du Chat Botté" remonte au XVIIe siècle, quand il fut la propriété de Jules Gouffier, comte de Caravaz. Un éminent personnage qui inspira Charles Perrault pour créer le Marquis de Carabas, Maître du Chat Botté dans son célèbre conte. L'édifice, entièrement restauré et aménagé, se niche au cœur d'un parc de huit hectares. La chapelle romane, le donjon, les douves, le pigeonnier et le musée d'objets ruraux anciens contribuent au charme de cet environnement préservé. Sur place, une équipe jeune et dynamique vous guidera dans ce domaine d'exception.

 Founded at the end of the 11th century and saved from further ruin by a recent restoration program, this priory is one of the most peculiar and interesting due to the quality and uniqueness of Romanesque architecture in the Charente area.  To see : the Romanesque chancel with stained-glass windows of Richard Texier and Kim En Joong, chapter house with ribbed vaulting, undercroft, dorters, cellar, refectory decorated with murals, medieval garden. We welcome you every day from 10am from 06 April to 3 November 2019! In April-May-June, the ticket office closes at 17h and the park at 19h. In July-August, the ticket office closes at 18h and the park at 20h. In September, October and November the ticket office closes at 16h and the park at 18h. The playground is open every day, even on Sundays and public holidays. Some useful information to read before you come : - It takes about 3 hours to complete the entire course - It is possible to picnic on the site (even before starting the course) - A snack offer is available in July-August - Our dog friends are accepted if they are on a leash for the duration of your visit. - In case of uncertain weather, remember to put on your rain boots!

 A spellbinding journey into the 1900s ... Prepare for a journey back in time, to the era of shops and small trades, through an exhibition of over 1000m2.
